The DGDA wants to streamline retail drug outlet licensing and renewal to better track licensing status and to make the process easier for license applicants. BHB hired an IT firm and worked with DGDA to develop the Automated Drug Licensing and Renewal System. As the largest body representing retail outlet owners, the BCDS received a demonstration of the new software on 5 August 2021. BCDS executive board members and leaders from Dhaka and peripheral districts and DGDA officials attended the orientation, which was chaired by the Director General of Drug Administration, Major General Dr Mahbubur Rahman.

BCDS leadership praised the functions and ease of the system and recommended its quick rollout. The Director General expressed his deep appreciation to BHB for supporting the software development and noted that the system will help minimize corruption and accelerate the drug outlet licensing and renewal process as part of the country’s efforts to establish good pharmacy practices.
