The Management Sciences for Health (MSH) is implementing a project Better Health in Bangladesh (BHB) from September 2018 and to close in December 2024. Funded by UK International Development, the project provided extensive technical support to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) of the Government of Bangladesh for its 4th Health, Population, and Nutrition Sector Program (HPNSP), and to strengthen the retail pharmaceutical sector. For the latter, BHB worked with DGDA to develop and enforce a framework for medicine shops’ regulation; establish model medicine shops and model pharmacies; and provide training to medicine dispensers. Campaigns conducted for raising awareness on good pharmacy practice (GPP), antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and pandemics. During the COVID-19 pandemic, BHB provided extraordinarily remarkable support to the MOHFW. Moreover, the project produced for the ministry wide range of key documents (viz., strategies, situational analysis and technical reports, action plans, project proposals); conducted health surveys; and facilitated important events. Several key digital health solutions were also created for the MOHFW agencies.
The project will end on 31 December 2024. We have shared and discussed the transition plan with our partners which creates hope that all the programs will sustain. At the eve of our closure, we (BHB and MSH) say Goodbye to all of you and offer sincere thanks and gratitude to provide us the opportunity to work with you so closely and cordially.
