In July and August 2022, there has been good progress in the Directorate General of Medical Education’s (DGME) digitalization efforts, particularly in the Central Student Information Management System, which DGME has now rolled out country-wide. All the medical and dental colleges in Bangladesh, both private and public, use the system to centrally manage their students’ information. The Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council will also use this system as the single source of information for registering medical and dental doctors. A support team is working round the clock to address users’ queries and resolving any issue within 24 hours.
The system streamlines the registration process; introduces transparency in the students’ enrolment process at private medical colleges, which DGME oversees; produces a complete list of currently enrolled students; enables tracking of students with a DGME student ID, and reports and tracks students’ migration from one college to another.
