BHB is carrying out its third round of medicine shop pre-assessments to help the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) accredit another 3,500 model pharmacies or model medicine shops. To be eligible for accreditation, during the pre-assessment, shops must meet three basic criteria, viz., a valid drug license, a registered medicine dispenser, and minimum shop floor space of 120 square feet. The third round’s pre-assessment target was 3,000 medicine shops, which BHB exceeded by 461 (15%) by 30 June 2023. Then the pre-assessment activity was closed.
Ten field staff conducted the pre-assessments in different districts of Bangladesh coordinated by a BHB senior technical adviser. BHB acknowledges the active support and cooperation DGDA, BCDS, and Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh who are the accreditation program’s three key stakeholders.
