BHB launches an online survey on the Government’s initiative to red-label antibiotics before marketing

The DGDA began enforcing a directive for pharmaceutical manufacturers to use red-labelled cautionary messages about AMR on the strips and packages of antibiotics before marketing. A few months later 29 February 2024, as part of BHB’s Facebook campaign on AR, it launched a short online survey to gather feedback from medicine dispensers on this new government directive.

Below is a list of key survey questions:

  • Are you aware that the government has introduced a system of marketing antibiotics with red labels cautioning about the dangers of AMR?
  • Does your medicine shop have any red-labelled antibiotic medicines?
  • If so, from how many companies?
  • What are your thoughts on introducing this system?
  • Are you noticing any effects of this initiative on buyers?
  • If the answer is yes, describe the effects.
  • Have you made any changes to the sale/ dispensing of antibiotics from your pharmacy since this system was introduced?

The survey will close after two weeks. The data will be analysed and findings shared with the DGDA, the donor, and other key stakeholders.
