Good pharmacy practice training formally launched

On 18 December, the Director General of Drug Administration, Major General Dr. Mohammad Yousuf, formally launched BHB’s training program on good pharmacy practices for medicine dispensers. BHB’s Country Project Director, Professor Dr. Abul Kalam Azad; DGDA’s Director Mr. Eyahia; and the Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh’s Vice Chair, Mr. Mosaddek Hussain and General Secretary, Mr. Mahbubul Haque spoke at the virtual ceremony. Trainees will comprise 2,500 Grade C pharmacy technicians (medicine dispensers), who were selected from eligible medicine shops per the recent pre-assessment survey. The first group of 660 trainees comes from 21 different districts.

The training will be held using the Zoom platform in batches of 35 to 40 participants over 14 consecutive days. Course contents include topics on good pharmacy practice, AMR, infection prevention and control, COVID-19 like pandemics, etc. The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office is supporting the training, and the trainers are instructors from the pharmacy departments of various public and private universities, pharmacy professionals, and DGDA officials.
